Why Dance?

Me & my student Chris Salsa dancing in Chicago, 2018

I started dancing at the age of 11 after I watched my friend in her dance class. From that first moment, I was hooked! I loved the way the bodies moved to the music, the costumes, the strictness of it, the freedom of it. The emotion I felt as I watched was indescribable. All I knew is that I had to do it!

No matter what motivates you to dance, just do it! Learning how to dance is one of the best investments you can make in yourself. I believe moving our bodies keeps us connected to ourselves and even better relates us to each other. Dance allows us to tap into joy and bliss. I have taught single men how to dance to become more social, taught couples how to better communicate with each other through dance (some, at the recommendation of their marriage therapists!) and even taught women how dance can help them feel sexy and confident in their everyday lives.

I know that dance has enriched my life beyond my expectations and it has been the one constant love I depend on. I encourage you to challenge yourself and let dancing be part of your life as well. Whether you want to learn the next hot dance move, get in better shape, wow your guests at your wedding or become the next dance champion . . . it's never too late to start!
